Villajoyosa is a costal town on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante it is part of the Marina Baixa region, known for its colourful fishermen's houses, beaches, and chocolate industry. It offers a mix of traditional Spanish life and a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere, situated between Alicante and Benidorm. The town stretches along a 15-kilometre coastline and is bisected by the Amadorio river. It is located approximately 30 km from Alicante and about 10 km from Benidorm, with easy access to Alicante-Elche Airport.

Main attractions include the colourful houses, the iconic, brightly painted houses along the seafront were traditionally painted so fishermen could easily spot their homes from the sea.  The town has a long, sandy beach, Playa Centro, and other beaches along its 15 km coastline. The traditional port is a hub for the local fishing industry, with a daily fish market and a lively atmosphere. Villajoyosa is also famous for its chocolate, with brands like Valor originating from the town. The town features a historic walled quarter with a Gothic church, old watchtowers, and a traditional Spanish feel. 

In addition to the daily fish market, there is a weekly market every Thursday for local produce and a Sunday flea market. Villajoyosa maintains a more traditional and less commercialised vibe compared to some nearby resorts, with a strong community feel.
